About MNML. Jiu Jitsu
MNML. Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2025 with one simple idea: training should be fun, inclusive, and built around people, not just physical effort. We believe that martial arts and movement thrive when supported by a vibrant community — a place where everyone feels welcome, no matter their age, background, or experience.
On the mats, we emphasize play, curiosity, and learning. Mobility and mindful movement are at the heart of our practice, because longevity matters — your body should carry you well for years to come. At MNML., training isn’t just about building strength or skill, but about creating balance, connection, and joy in the process.
This is more than a gym. It’s a space where respect and community come first, where friendships grow, and where the journey is just as important as the results.
Our Philosophy
Simplicity - Prioritize essential teachings, grounded in fundamental concepts and principles.
Focus - Create an environment where students can deeply engage with their practice.
Respect - Foster a culture of mutual respect, inclusivity, and safety.
Growth - Encourage personal and technical development.
Community - Build a space where every practitioner feels a sense of belonging.
A Vision For MNML.
Álvaro is more than a dedicated martial artist and passionate coach — he is a creator, a connector, and a guide. With a background as both an experienced chef and a dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, he brings a rare blend of discipline, creativity, and global perspective to every class.
In 2009 (15) Álvaro started his training under Juan Miguel Iturralde, black belt under Fernando "Soluço" Di Piero (Alliance Ecuador), renowned for his technical precision, playful style, and for shaping the next generation of martial artists with passion and dedication.
His unique approach fuses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with yoga, breakdancing, and natural body movement, giving life to the philosophy of Ecuadorian Jiu Jitsu: playful, expressive, and deeply communal.
At MNML., Álvaro channels the same structure, precision, and artistry he cultivated in the kitchen into his teaching on the mats. His vision is to build a modern, holistic martial arts lifestyle, one rooted in inclusivity, joy, and connection. A space where training is not only about growth and resilience, but also about sharing movement, creativity, and community.
